Spring
2009
I saw my first robin last week while driving to work one morning. He was trying to pull a worm from the frozen tundra of Wisconsin. An advertisement flashed
through my head: Cage Match! Robin Red Breast versus Mother Nature. I was so excited at seeing his orangey-red feathers I almost drove off the road.
Each year I hallmark Spring with seeing my first robin of the season. He's a precursor to all things Spring for me: sun that warms your skin; wearing
lighter jackets; mercury in the thermometer that doesn't drop to single digits, even at night; the bright green of day lily leaves shooting up with
promise. We've covered the other seasons here at KAGville in the Coffee Shop over the last year, so we couldn't neglect Spring! Since the calendar
tells us that spring has sprung as of March 20th, and since I've officially seen my first robin, let's celebrate!
Tell us about your spring fever. What are you looking forward to? What signs of Spring have you seen? Share the anticipation of the season.
